I remember that thread as well. Your take is the same as I remember.
I didn't ask about renting the trailer only, as my daily driver/tow
vehicle has 200,000 miles on the original drivetrain. I would rather
pay a couple hundred dollars to rent a truck and trailer. My daily
driver/tow vehicle doesn't need the additional wear and tear, and I
figure it is cheap insurance of not blowing an engine, transmission,
transfer case, rear, U-joint, axle...
