Hello Shane, 

Trying to dredge up something useful from memory, so may be worth less
than 2 cents, but does your '74 have the vacuum-retard-only distributor,
and is that part of it functioning ?  I recall the vac lines and little
rubber elbows shaking loose from time to time on my old '68.
