I have a couple of questions regarding work I'm currently doing on my
1972 TR6:
1. I'm ready to finish new clutch installation. Flywheel
looks good, with no apparent scoring. Surface is nice and
polished where clutch disc has been engaging. Does anything
need to be done to the flywheel surface, other than cleaning
it? Does a glaze form here that requires "scuffing" the
surface before installing the new disc? If so, what's the
recommended procedure??
2. My new sleeve for my release bearing (also new) has a small
pin installed in the groove where the pins on the fork ride.
The old sleeve had no such pin, or any evidence of any ever
having been there. It looks as though this pin is there to
keep the sleeve from fully rotating about the input shaft.
Is there any particular way that the sleeve should be
positioned on the fork - i.e. with the pin up vs. down?
Thanks in advance for any input.
(BTW, re: the current discussion about TRF.... two successive orders
from TRF since January 3rd have both resulted in only one backordered
item - a speedometer cable. Crucial items such as clutch kit, fork,
shaft, radiator hoses, and many other odds and ends, were all delivered
within 4 days of my order.)
