Jeff,
Yes, the cam can be removed without removing the engine.  You have to
remove the grill, radiator, etc.  You also have to loosen one engine
mount and raise the engine for clearance.  The Bentley covers this
operation nicely.  My Bentley is in tatters, and I wouldn't know what to
do without it.  It's my woobie!
