Does anyone have a simple way to release the main shaft bearing
to the main shaft can be removed. This is the large bearing
at the rear of the main case.
The main bearing moves in the aluminum, but is stuck on the shaft.
(yes, both large and small circlips are removed)
A few taps with a hammer moved the mainshaft 1/8" into the case,
by reinstalling the large circlip as a retainer. At this point
the released gears from the layshaft (removed) seem to contact it.
Seems like there must be a better approach? The special puller
listed in the manual is a 2 ft. long gear puller with attachment
to grip the circlip groove. Another manual mentioned the circlip,
hammer approach...
Any GREAT ideas?
Thanks again,
Roger
