For all you folks that are doing restorations and painting engine
compartments etc. there is a new paint out made by Dupont that is
supposed to be impervious to brake fluid. A friend that runs a body shop
painted his hot rod engine compartment and running gear with it.
It's pretty expensive - about $30.00 a pint plus the special reducer but
it has a lot of solids (pigment) and covers good. A pint shoud do a
engine compartment wit pleanty left over. If you are going to take the
time to paint the engine compartment it would probably be well worth the
cost to use it considering the number of times a good paint job has been
ruined by leaking fluids.
The paint is made by Dupont and called Chroma Premier Single Stage. I
should be available in any color according to the source.
