Knowing before I get into it that carefully sanding stuff is not my forte (minutes seem like hours), I think I'll pursue other options. There's a lot of really big really nice boats in my area and lots of people that refinish the wood on and in those boats. I know a few of them I'm going to ask, but from what I've gathered here on the list it's not the refinishing that's so much a concern as it is the very very thin veneer.
