I put 5" wheels on my Spit.  But they do create clearance problems.  It may
have more to do with the off-set than the width.  

Remember, there are NO OTHER CARS ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH with the same bolt
pattern except for the TR7 and the early 60's Lotus cars.

FYI, TR7 used larger studs.  Same pattern.  Will fit Spit hubs directly.  Did
it.  Works great.  Lug nuts much easier to find.
