DO NOT HAMMER! Press the cups out using either a press or the vise/socket
method. Hammering on any drive shaft will only distort/destroy the
driveshaft. And yes, by all means paint the driveshaft, the color of your
choice. My personal favorite is gloss black engine enamel.
