Ladies and Gentlemen:
I made the first extended foray with the TR6 this weekend. Happy to report
that everything went well and nothing broke or fell off in the 275 miles or
so that I drove yesterday. I stopped at Bruce Krobusek's house on the way
home and we swapped lies and crawled all over each other's cars.
One thing that puzzles me is the mixture. I would have thought that after
that much open road running that the tailpipes would be a nice gray color,
but they were black. When I do the "lift the damper" test the engine
stalls, making me think it is lean. The timing is set for 10 BTDC static.
What am I missing? I have just rebuilt everything on the carbs.
