TR6 overdrives

Greetings to all

I have aquired a transmision c/w a typeA overdrive from a 71 TR6. This
winter I have great plans of putting my new aquisition into my own 71.
The transmision looks to be in great shape and I was told the OD works but I
would like some reassurance before tackling the job of installing it. Is
their any way I can check the operation of the unit prior to going to all
that trouble.
