I don't know what you are referring to but the only way of verifying oil
pressure is with a known good oil pressure gauge connected to the output
side of the pump, usually a channel directly accessable from the outside of
the block. In the case of your spitfire it's the fitting that the "idiot
light" oil pressure sender screws into the block. There is no way I know of
verifying oil pressure by just looking at a part. Of course you can
conclude that lack of oil pressure was a problem by looking at all the heavy
score marks, the blue/black coloring on the crankshaft journals, and the
the sliver thin remnants of the bearing, when the the loudly knocking motor
stoped running :-)
