Har!  But seriously, a plinth is the block upon which the moldings of an 
architrave are stopped.

Relative to a TR-6, the switch plinth is the black crash pad just above the 
fascia[*] support bracket, on which is mounted the choke, heater controls and 
so on.

[*] a fascia is one of the three bands making up the architrave in the Ionic 
order.
