Jim,
The only thing I know of doing to get rid of the paint remover syndrome is
to convert over to silicone brake fluid. I have been using it for over 4
years with no problem. I did replace/rebuild the master cylinder and wheel
cylinders but did not do anything to the calipers other than bleed them. I
have noticed that I do not rebuild everything every other year since giving
up the Girling. The years I used Girling there was always rubber crud from
the seals breaking down in the reservoir. Having owned my GT6 for 24 years I
wish I would have done it sooner. It is really nice not to have to top off
the fluid every time you want to drive. Best yet is keeping the paint on the
car.
I have heard stories that is is not good for race cars but I have not
noticed anything different the times I have run autocross or Sebring, or
hard drives in the hills outside of Austin.
