Robert,
I built my GT6 about 16 years ago. My GT6+ body was rusted away
to nothing, an accident destroyed the bonnet, and the replacement
bonnet that was delivered was a Mk3 GT6 bonnet (and the company I
purchased it from went down the tubes soon after delivery).
I found a 1981 Spitfire tub for cheap - the Spitfire had an
engine fire, and some of the tub was burnt - sand blasted it,
painted it, and started building.
I'll post a GIF to the team.net server if I can ever figure out
how to load it from my site.
The car was fun. Alas, it's been sitting for too long while I
went up North for work, and now requires a bunch of work.
If you want, I can give you more details on what I changed, what
I kept, and some tips on building one just like it. I do have to
echo Michael N's comments, though - don't destroy a restorable
GT6 to build a convertible
BTW, the tub was an easy bolt off, bolt on affair. The only
welding required was for the front bumper mounts.
