Hi All,
I seem to have a problem with the bearings in the rear axle of my
'77 Spit 1500. The bearings were noisy and I replaced them, and the
drive shaft which was badly scored by the inner needle bearings. I
had the hub split by my local specialist using the proper hub puller
and I reasembled the whole thing with new bearings, oil seals etc,
using the measurements given in the Haynes, and official workshop
manuals. Everything went back together ok and I filled it up with
grease, but the trouble is that the bearing is now very noisy and
there seems to be play in it. What the heck could I have done wrong?
Could the hub itself be damaged in some way (It didn't appear so when
removed).
Any ideas, anyone, please!
Thanks,
Jonathan
