On a spitfire/herald/gt6/vitesse etc you shouldn't use a GL5 spec oil in the
diff because it contains something that
attacks the copper thrust washers ( According to JK's catalogue )
worth checking for a TR6.
Engine oil in the transmission? Well it was done in a Mini and Metro
(crappy mini successor you Americans were mercifully spared!) but I'd
suggest ordinary Gearbox oil (Laycock say no to Hypoy oils but I've
not heard it's a problem)
