>One type of powerplant that should be given more research is the Hydrogen engine. It's main advantage is that it only emits water! The trouble with hydrogen engines is basically the same as with electric engines. The hydrogen has to be produced. My understanding is, that it is done electrically separating water into hydrogen and oxygen. Then when it is burned it recombines to make water. So the burden is shifted to the electric plants.
