My TR 6 also had low compression in 2 cylinders at about 79,000 mi. My mechanic I strictly an r & r man) recommended a valve lapping. When he got the head off, he discovered that the cam was far less lobed than it should have been and that the tappets (followers?) were shot. He replace them and the cam, in addition to the well worn rocker arm shaft. The car does have lots more zip now. Ron |
