Gentlemen:

When removing the head from a Triumph 6 cylinder engine - REMEMBER THE
ROPE TRICK!

The head is easily separated from the block thusly:

1. Remove a sparking plug.

2. With ths piston in that cylinder at BDC, start feeding soft rope into
the cylinder through the sparking plug hole.

3. When it feels like the cylinder is about full of rope, rotate the
engine. A starter does fine. The head will break free of the block.

WARNING - make sure ALL of the cylinder head nuts have been removed! You
could do SERIOUS damage to your engine if a nut is still on there!

You may want to put a small amount of rope into the cylinder, then turn,
and see if the head breaks loose. If not, feed in a bit more, and so on.

I used this, and turned the engine over by hand (all sparking plugs
removed) and a very stuck head came loose fairly easily.
