Greetings fellow SOLers....

My name is TJ Noto and it's been a few years since I've inhabited this
list. I've been playing with British and Italian motorcycles in the
last coupla years, but still own my little 65 MGB. The most compelling
reason for my re-appearance is the presence of one 1970 Triumph TR6
that I towed home last Saturday. While technically it is still my
car, it will actually belong to my girlfriend Kelley, for whom TR6's
have been a DREAM CAR ever since she was little. We just happened upon
this one in the local paper, literally in one day, paid the man the
cash and now she's in our driveway.

The car is in pretty good condition, the body is straight, no rust,
good tires, good brakes, and it hasn't been subjected to lunatic DPO's
with wire-cutters and electrical tape. No holes in the dash, no holes
in the body.

We spent Saturday and Sunday trying to get her to run, but she'd been
sitting for 5 years (garaged thankfully) and had bad gas. The ignition
switch had been bodged and so we had to jumper wires to the starter.
But she has good compression, and there's no noise coming from the
top-end. We did manage to get her to run, although not drive, with
the choke on full. I suspect bad gas is partially to blame. Added
a bunch of good gas, some octane boost, and some gas treatment to try
to help out.

I'm happy that the car doesn't have air-injection, or lots of smog
stuff...it's pretty clean and devoid of that crap. I believe the
Strombergs will benefit from a rebuild so that's on the agenda.

Other things she needs:
Tranny cover (gone...just a big hole there now..makes for easy cleaning
though!)
Seat covers
Carpet Kit

That's about it....the gauges are all in good condition, and like I
said, the car is pretty clean.....she was originally brown, repainted
blue (close to the original TR6 blue which I can't remember the name
of). I wish it had O/D.

Looking forward to hearing tales of woe and wonder from the collective
souls here...or should that be collective scions? = )

cheers,
teej
