My 71 TR6 didnot have the weld nuts for the shoulder strap and I had to drill
holes and use nuts when I retrofitted some used belts into it. So I think
that they added the mounting provisions in that model year but used up
existing stock of the old belts before changing over.
They do that, don't you now.
