Berry, Removing the TR-6 Windscreen is not as bad as it sounds and the appearance of the new crash pads is definitely worth it. Once you get yourself scrunched under the dash to remove the two nuts that hold the posts at either end of the windscreen its all wiggling and lifting from there.
