Doug,
 People buy new and rebuilt parts simply because they are available.
 Not everyone has the inclination or maybe the ability to tear into some 
parts and rebuild them. Granted, it would be a whole bunch cheaper, but 
then again, it would put a lot of suppliers out of business if we all 
rebuilt or refurbished our own parts.
 Glad you had the gumption to get into the distributor.
