Noticed this thread on BPNW and have a warning on a few of their parts. I
purchased a few "uprated parts" from them which were unsatisfactory.
Specifically, a Road Rallye Camshaft which was reground to their specs but
was out of spec in the locating groove at the front of the shaft. Getting
proper endfloat was impossible. I imagine that they are now checking cores
for this problem, because at the time I diagnosed this problem, they checked
their stock and most were out of the spec range. The replacement camshaft I
recieved went in fine, and the endfloat is in line, but I've come to suspect
that it just wasn't ground consistent on all lobes. I can't get it to run
like it should. I've rebuilt other engines and replaced other camshafts and
never had a problem like this. If it wasn't so much work to pull it out, it'd
be gone.
I was also dismayed at the quality of the washers which came with the front
end rebuild kit (lower outer A-arms bushes) The washers looked to be JC
Whitney's finest! I tried using them but more than one of then collapsed and
/or crumbled. I reused the original pieces.
I recieved a Monza header (what a bear to install, I had to grind almost half
the flange away on each tube) without the connector that went to the two pipe
system. They sent that along with the replacement camshaft.
I was very happy with the Poly bushings, esp. the diff mount and rear
trailing arm ones. I expect that they will be that last ones I'll ever put in
this car.
Since all this bad stuff is over two years old, and they took care of the
problems I asked them to, I don't want to talk anyone out of buying from
them. They have great prices and specials, just watch the quality.
