One definition in Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary is:
_Brit_ : a convertible automobile
It usually defines a car with roll-up windows in the doors (unlike the
"classic" definition of roadster, which would have removable
sidecurtains) and, perhaps, even a framed doorglass assembly, along with
a folding "convertible" top. It is similar to the accepted automotive
definition of cabriolet. Usually, a DHC would have just the two or three
passengers in front, with little or no space behind the front seat.
In our "contemporary" frame of reference, any TR4-TR8 with a folding top
could be considered a DHC; so could all Spitfires. A Herald convertible,
what with its small but usable rear seat, would NOT qualify as a DHC,
nor would a Stag.
