It don't sound right...
Did you measure the gap on the rings before you installed the pistons?
What oil did you use for break-in?
It's possible that if the ring gaps were too tight when they
heated up, they may have cracked. I installed .040 over pistons
on old bored out sleeves last year, and have had no probs. Now
I didn't check the compression, cos the car is running great.
Throwing all that oil is a puzzlement...
Lemme ponder on it a bit.
