I have an electric fuel pump in my TR-6. Its made by Holley and
delivers 8psi to the regulator. I've rerouted my fuel line behind
the engine. This combined with the 8psi eliminated my vapor lock
problem. Higher fuel pressure increases the boiling point of fuel.
Mine is mounted on the left rear wheel arch using home made rubber
isolators. I wired the pump into the main harness when I restored
the car. I wired it to the oil pressure switch. That way when the
engine quits, so does the pump. I've also wired a momentary bypass
switch to fill the bowls of the Webers after the car has sat for a
while. I use a RAM Water Guard filter system. This is mounted
between the pump and the tank. It hold about a quart of fuel in an
aluminum filter housing and has a water sensor inside. Also has a
pet cock on the bottom. It came with a small box with indicator
lights and an audible buzzer. When I turn the ignition to run, I see
a red light and hear a buzzer. After 2 or 3 seconds, if there is no
water in the fuel, the buzzer quits and the light turns green. If
the buzzer stays on and the light stays red, then I open the pet cock
till it quits, removing the water. I've had to use the pet cock
twice in four years. Very good insurance for expensive engines.
Best of all it was only $20. I bought it from English Automotive
Specialist out of Tallahassee FL. (J.K. Jackson #20 black and
silver TR-6)
