Hi list,
I finaly started with stripping down the Blue Beast.
The idea that I can't drive with the Vitesse for the
next 2 to 3 years kept me from doing it.
Also because the Vitesse is in perfect technical condition.
The body work is absolute not rotten or so and I don't
have her that long.
Anyway, I'm planning to do a complete body of restoring so
hopefully I can pick up one of those John Kipping chassis'
next year.
Last Sunday I removed the complete interieur include the
dashboard and wiring behind it.
It all looks hopefull, wiring is completely original and
I didn't find any rust behind the dash on the bulkhead.
My question is if there are things I really need to know
before I take the body of the chassis, specialy because I
don't want to use the original chassis anymore.
Like what's best, take the doors out before or after lifting
the body up ?
What should I do with the engine, fill it up with oil or is
that not needed for +- 2.5 years ?
The gearbox and diff are reconditioned and I only drove around
500 miles with it, just keep it on a dry place ?
And what about the battery, also brand new, can I put it away
for so long ?
Does anyone know the original colors for steeringhouse (free
translation of how we call it), alternator, engine, suspension,
wipermotor, driveshafts etc ?
I want to have the bodywork in it's original color back and I
was wondering what I could do best, sandblasting the body but
then what ?
Lot's of questions and I hope that my technical English will
improve in the future so that I can give answers some day at
your questions (I know answers sometimes in Dutch but that doesn't
much help, does it)
Well, thanks !!
