I put 205/70-15's on mine, Yokohama A378's. They've worked out fairly
well - overall size is very close to stock. They're the closest you can get
to performance tires on stock rims unless you're willing to live with a 5%
or more RPM increase (and speedo miscalibration). A '6 without an OD already
turns a lot of RPMs on the highway. There's also a follow-on to the A378 which
gives better dry traction and less road noise. 215/70's really should have
6" rims. One other option would be AVS intermediate 215/65-15's. I have those
on my Merkur.
