Installed the second (in addition to the resistance wire in the harness)
ballast resistor. 1.2 ohms.  This brought the voltage down to 7.4 volts at
1000 rpm.  I clamped a temperature sensor to the coil, still in the
horizontal position, and went for a 50 mile drive in the country on a nice
sunny 90 degree Sunday afternoon.  Mostly 40-50 mph, but some slower sections
when I hit some bumpy roads (oops!).  The car ran fine and the max
temperature was 130 degrees F, but this may coincide with the ambient in the
engine compartment.  I'll call Crane again and see what they think.

Question..
With the higher energy spark, should I gap the pulgs wider than the old .025
spec??
