Many have answered that the rings or gasket may be bad or the oil passages
may be plugged and they may be right. I'm a lazy kind of guy. I'd check the
diaphram on the engine vent to the carbs. if that tears or cracks you've
blue smoke.
Also, the oil pressure started to drop

Common problem but can be fixed with the switch to synthetic oil. It'll stay
at 50 at idle.
The smoked was more evident

It's quite normal if your oil level is low.

Hal, by the way, I'm heading to the top of Kauai this weekend to hike and
star gaze. New moon and all.. Is saturn visible ? Anything of interest I
should be looking for besides the constellation lucas?
