Simple. The variable here is the Laycock Overdrive, which always required motor grade oil. TR boxes work fine with motor oil in the 30-50w range (20-50w is great) and as previously mentioned, it isn't as corrosive on syncro rings etc as EP90 is, also doesn't break down as fast. MG trannys will work with heavier oil than motor oil, but they seem to have tighter tolorances than the TR trans' do, as syncros etc get very sluggish. |
