In a parking lot at a restaurant:
A TR4/4A/5/250 in stunningly bad shape. The body was completely
rusted through at at least a dozen places all over the surface of
the car, including boot lid, doors, wings, etc. Several shades
of paint and primer still sticking to it in places, difficult to
tell what the original color was. All badges, emblems, and
letters missing, thus the confusion about exact model. Front
indicator lenses missing, just bare bulbs. No grille in front
(easy to see that there no crank handle hole in radiator,
indicating either non-original radiator or not a TR4.) Wire
wheels in good shape. Interior very scragged.
I wish to emphasize this was clearly a running car! No sign of
accident damage, but short of burying the car in wet soil for
several years I don't see how you can get that kind of rust
damage on the body surface and still have a working chassis
underneath!
I wanted to hang around and wait for the owner to come out to
congratulate him on the rattiest (working) LBC I'd ever seen.
I wished I'd had a camera, I can think of several magazines
that would probably run the photo.
I don't suppose anyone knows who this belongs to? It's in
Tucson, AZ, seen near Broadway & Craycroft road.
