Ok, after consulting with a number of netxperts, I am sure that
the problem is limited to the head gasket. This begs another
question.
The Spit 1300 has two different head gaskets listed for it. One
has a "lip" around the cylinder, the other doesn't. Since I was
unable to pull the head last night due to prior commitments, I
was wondering if anyone knew where the change came? The serial
number on my engine is FK483HE, and it came out of a Mark IV
built in October 1970.
Ideas? Suggestions? (other than to dump the car/engine)
I would like to get the car on the road before the warranty on the
transmission runs out.
