I'd guess that the brushes are worn. I've had similar problems on many older LBC's. The brushes are a royal pain to change and I find that a auto electric shop will rebuild for about $40 to $50 US. That is likely high cause EVERYTHING costs more over here. If you want the reason.... the brushes don't allow enough electric to keep the drive gear fully engaged into the ring gear. it drops out and free-wheels. Aloha Paul |
