Having been asked this question at least a hundred times :)I've seen lots o=
f guys use a Krylon hammer tone.=C2=A0 The color is close but needs to be a=
pplied very lightly and from a good distance away.=C2=A0 The wetter the pai=
nt application the bigger the fish eyes , I mean hammered effect.=C2=A0
The closest color not quite semi gloss was a silver that I once had for mot=
orcycle side cases on early 60s vintage Hondas. It could be flattened by a =
light color sand and a rubbing compound hand application.
Alas most paints at NLA in Calunicornia.=C2=A0 The couple original housings=
I've seen were rather weathered and had the typical appearance of no prime=
r and finish directly over bare steel.=C2=A0 The engine baked finish was pe=
eling on both I handled.=C2=A0

Here are three photos of the Air Cleaner from my (former) GT Tiger.
I hope you can gain some information from these photos. My impression from =
having ?eyes-on? is that there is no Hammertone and the color is a silver t=
int. The color reminds me of Ford?s ?Argent? paint which has a bit of brigh=
tness- a bit more than a satin tone.
I?m sure you will note the black paint; I guess a prior owner applied that =
at some time in the history of this GT Tiger.
I took a close look at the black paint with a magnifying glass, and then sc=
raped my fingernail on the paint to see which is the base layer; it is clea=
r that the black was sprayed over the silver (?Argent?)
The original Ford P/N was a C7AZ- type; now Ford sells it under PM-19K207-A=

o have original paint still on it definitely is NOT Hammerstein type of pai=
