Joe
Glad you have it sorted for now.
I would check the flatness of the spacer, make sure it does not rock on =
a flat surface, and look for any possible cracks.
Make sure there is no interference somewhere between the carb and the =
spacer and that the throttle plates can open and close correctly on the =
spacer.

It's definitely a vacuum leak. I plugged up all of the ports on the =
carb and the port on the intake manifold that goes to the break booster =
and nothing changed. So I pulled off the carb and the spacer that goes =
between the carb and the manifold and looked it over really good and =
didn't see anything obvious. I reinstalled the carb without the spacer =
and it runs fine now. I'm waiting for it to cool down and I'll put the =
spacer back in and see what happens. =20
=20
Of course, while I had it idling I noticed that the temperature gauge on =
the dash was getting over 225. I'm not sure how accurate that is and it =
never boiled over. I'll get out my laser temp gun and poke around a =
little bit. =20
=20
Thanks for everybody's guidance.
