alternative fuel pumps these days and especially pumps that can support =
more HP which is where many Tiger owners have gone. I always like to =
have options available so I can decide on the best path to follow. I =
have not investigated this product but it looks like a proven fuel pump =
from a Great Race participant

I have had good luck with Sta-Bil, fuel stabilizer and StarTron, Enzyme =
fuel treatment.

These days we all need to be vigilant checking fuel system components =
=E2=80=93 fuel filters for contamination, fuel hoses for weakness =

Ethanol attacks more than just the fuel pump diaphragm. Ask me how I =
know.=20
I am lucky to live in an ethanol-free gas pump Province. ( Nova Scotia) =
However, our Province to the north,
(New Brunswick) is not.
Returning home from a trip through N.B. in the early days of ignorance =
about evil ethanol, I filled up with some e-fuel, and put the car away =
with about 1/2 tank for the winter. Big Mistake.

In the spring, getting the car out resulted in nasty surprise: it =
wouldn't start.
=20
Investigation revealed the float bowl was laden with a thick "gummy" =
paste. Long story short, not only the carb had to be cleaned, but =
everything from the tanks, through the filters, fuel pump and rubber =
fuel line connectors were fouled with this ugly stuff. The fuel tanks, =
pump diaphragm, full filters and rubber line connectors had to be =
cleaned and/or replaced.=20

If you put your car away with a partially filled tank of ethanol laced =
fuel, any condensation that forms on the tank above the fuel level will =
combine with the ethanol and form this gummy paste on the bottom, and =
get sucked up through the fuel line into the carb.=20

Disaster ensues.

Always put your car away with a full tank, and use fuel stabilizer to =
keep the fuel fresh. Up here in N.S. we also use "SeaFoam" additive. =
Look it up.

There is an interesting article in the November 2019 =
Auto Restorer about electric fuel pumps.

Diaphragm fuel pumps will degrade with the alcohol fuel blends, the =
alcohol attacks the rubber diaphragm and other gasket parts.
I know because I had a diaphragm fuel pump just barely get me home one =
evening. The rubber diaphragm was a total mess when I took that pump =
apart. I really don=E2=80=99t know how it worked long =
enough to get me home but so glad it did. =20

The article in Auto Restorer is about a gear pump that is compatible =
with modern fuel bends. The author Randy Rundle enters the Great Race.

The 12 v pump has a peak of 4 psi and can deliver 30 gallons per hour =
=E2=80=93 cost $95 with a fuel filter.
30 gallons per hour is 2X the volume of the stock SU pump and can thus =
support more than 200 HP engines probably up to 400 HP.
