Well, that was intuitively obvious, now wasn't it. NOT, lol..... Wasn't a
footman the guy who opened the door on the horse drawn carriage and helped the
passengers to and fro? Not an obvious association to ma at all...must be a UK
thing.
Many thanks for th e answer!

Larry;
I can't often answer â??some of the more sophisticated questions posted here,
but I do know the answer to this one:
The Footman Loop is the U-shaped metal bracket mounted on the inside of the
boot lid, and two more that the false floor pivots on. The false floor also has
a strap on it that hooks into the one mounted on the boot lid to hold it up
while you are rooting around looking for your Jack and factory tools!

Ok, so it has been a while getting back to refurbishing my Orange car,
B9471136. I am beginning to work on the interior making it poresentable again
and was parsing the pile of stainless steel fasteners I purchased some time
ago. Each function or location is specified on the little zip bags and one in
particular caught my eye. It says screws for â??footman loopâ??. Now, I have no
idea what that is, lol. Anybody enlighten me?
