Although this info is not about a Tiger's spare tire and rim, it might add =
a bit to the discussion. =C2=A0Especially in relation to the tire types and=
rim color. =C2=A0I am a long time owner of two Tigers (Mark II purchased i=
n 1978 and Mark I in 1979). However, in November of 2011 I purchased a '66 =
Series V Alpine (B395008497 OD LRX) from the original owner. The car has on=
ly 66,435 miles on it... original paint, engine, interior, etc. It is a rea=
l survivor that has been well cared for over the years.=C2=A0
This posting is regarding that car's spare tire. The original owner said he=
had never used it... and that it was the original. I have posted photos, b=
elow. =C2=A0I believe the tire is actually the original one... and it sure =
looks unused based on the "nibs" (not sure what to call them) that are stil=
l intact on the tire, etc.=C2=A0
One thing I noticed: as mentioned by others, it appears that the wheels wer=
e first painted black... then the front side was painted the "Off White/ ve=
ry light Grey" color... as the "over-spray" is clearly visible on the backs=
ide of this spare. Also: this tire has a wheel weight stamped with the Dunl=
op logo. This may support the idea that it is original?
Please see photos at this link (hope this works):
http://s1299.photobucket.com/user/fordlandia/library/1966%20SERIES%20V%20AL=
PINE%20ORIGINAL%20SPARE
It may not be correct to assume that the same approach was used on the MKIA=
Tigers. =C2=A0But, seems likely (although the wheel might be a bit differe=
nt?).

Joel,
Here (hopefully you can see them) are pictures of my original spare
from my MKI B9470622..=C2=A0 (black, grey-white front, Dunlop RS5).
Note the /64 datecode.=C2=A0 Your picture looks like /63 datecode, not
sure if that could have been left over long enough for your MKIa but
maybe...
You also have the early MKI "crosshatch" trim ring, pretty sure you
should have the later style.
HTH,
Gary
