Listers;
In our state a salvage title has a specific meaning alluded to in the
write-up. For the State of Missouri a vehicle is titled as salvage after an
insurance company pays a settlement and decides the car is not worth
repairing. This does not mean the car cannot be repaired, it means that it
is beyond the costs to repair the company is willing to pay. Following a
salvage title applied to a particular VIN, it can be removed, at least here,
if the car is repaired and the car is re-titled with a note as "previously
salvaged" and on later titling dropped from being listed on the currently
issued title. It is still in the history that state retains. I have
experience in this, not with any Sunbeam product. Here the value damage is
estimated by approx 25 percent of book value depending on the job completed
to repair the car. Sorry this is so lengthy but check you state rules
especially with an auto recycler to see about removal of 'salvage' for the
title to see if it is possible.
How do I know this, I am currently working with my restorer to complete my
Mark 1a, no salvage title, and he has extensive experience repairing and
re-selling cars and lets perspective buyers know the truth. This has been
my experience here over the years.

Might be ok in some sites in USA, would make it VERY hard to export a
car without a title. I know you would struggle to bring it down under
as anything other than a "parts car"... and seems so many Tigers have
made their way down under in the last couple of years.
All this said,, does anyone know why the car became a "salvage title"?
Was the car written off by an insurance company some time back? How
seriously was it damaged?
I guess when the cars were cheaper the likelyhood of repair costs vs
value for an insurance co would have made them likely to write off a
lightly damaged car that now we would consider a straight forward
resto.
