I called our dmv and asked. If you bring the car down for inspection, they
don't care. Tn.
The officer said it is a mere re body and legal.
Happens with mgb's all the time.Sheesh. you guys must live in terror of your
state government.

Nothing wrong if you plan to use the car for "off-road use" only. In
most states if the DMV knows you have removed and/or swapped the tag, they
either will not register the car or will confiscate it.
