I had the same experience as the other guys who answered. I put in the
Pertronix and everything seemed like it worked just fine, however, over
the years I have come to suspect that the tach is not really accurate
any longer. I'm pretty sure it reads high. I have heard a number of
folks on the list say similar things. One recent post mentioned having
access to a lot more "power" after updating the tach. So while it
appears to work OK, I really think it is no longer accurate.
