I showed my car again at the MidWest Mustangers all Ford and Ford powered
show yesterday. It is held each year at a Ford Dealer about 30 minutes from
my house.
Last year I was in the 1965-1970 Shelby class. I pre registered in the same
class this year. When I showed up they told me I would be in the Ford
"powered" class and not the Shelby. I told them that was the wrong class
and last year I was in the Shelby class.....the guy I was talking to told me
it was a mistake last year and quickly changed the subject.
I did not feel like making a big seen trying to educate a Shelby snob, so I
let it be. I did put out my "Sunbeam Tiger, A Carroll Shelby creation"
story board that was read by many people all during the show. It beats the
hell out of explaining the story 100 times during the day.
Kinda ticks me off though. Don't get me wrong, Shelby is quite the snake
and I know his input was limited and that his shop created the prototype.
Then you have all of the 2008 Shelby GT 500 guys walking around thinking
their car is a "real" Shelby when all the cars have ever seen is a Ford
factory.
BTW - I received third prize last year competing against 7 other "real"
1965-170 Shelby's.
Yesterday, I won 2nd.
