About 10 years ago I was working on my '56 Corvette and wandered into an
old parts store in a sleepy part of town to get a water pump . . . The
guy pulls a rebuilt one off the shelf that looks correct, no extra
bosses or outlets or anything like newer ones sometimes have. I look at
the casting number and you could have knocked me over with a feather.
It was a correct '56 pump. For the princely sum of $18.95 and some
ridiculously low core charge, it now graces the car . . .. You never
know . . .
BTW, the (fairly new) Tiger and I LOVE this list.
