I just read an auction from Malibu. I'm not sure who he is but I hope he is a
member here. I want to address this email to everyone who buys and sells on
EPAY. I think many of us watch the prices and I do occasionally give in to the
desire to own another part-- one I prolly have stashed away as is. What brings
this about is the auction is for a restored signal light switch but what got my
attention was"I never charge for packaging or handling". I think that shows
what is a fine example of a Sunbeam person and I think that IF we, as a group,
would let other sellers know we are tierd of being ripped off. For example I
recently purchased a part from a person who might well also be on this list.
The shipping and handling was 8.99 if memory serve- maybe 7.99- anyway, when
the small box arrived the postage was 2.50 and the box was a left over item- at
least in my opinion I dont believe he bought tha box- inside was a few pieces
of newspaper and the part I
purchased. The chap did drive to the PO but he also had several items close,
so he shipped everything in one trip. Maybe its just me but I feel Im paying
him to handle his parts and eventho the item went at a lower cost then he might
have paid( no reserve)I'm giving him money for what I feel was him using trash
to ship- minus the pieces of scotch tape. I think if we all let Beam parts
people know we arent interested in paying such fees, perhaps they will listen.
There are two well known sellers who also never charge a cent for handling or
packaging. One lives in VA. and the other S.C. they are well known in the TE/AE
circles.PLEASE dont get me wrong. if the seller is out money for a crate and or
materials, a bubble envelope from the PO etc etc, I want to pay for those
items- it is part of the deal BUT a used box, newspapers from last weeks
newspaper and 3 pieces of scotch tape dont add up to 5.50 to 6.50 bucks he
pocketed under shipping and handling.
my two cents worth- your opinions invited.
