To add to this I always suggest you read the shop manual; one is located
online @ Tigersunited.com.
Here is section J.

As for the Pep Boy steering wheel; I have no idea. You will need to see
how the 2 wheels compare once you remove your steering wheel. You might
need to make an adaptor plate to make the Pep Boys wheel fit.

Steering wheel removal is simple, follow your nose.
1. remove the black surround. two small screws on each end
and another middle.
2. Loosen adjuster and lower wheel about half way.
3. Reomve the center motif. Pry very gently under the outside
of the chrome.
4. Remove the nut and washer.
5. Remove the black adjuster ring.
6. Remove the horn ring and its mounting screws. Unhook
the power lead to the horn ring the goes through the steering
wheel.
7. grab the steering wheel and pull upwards while jiggling.
don't let the adjusting shaft go down into the column. You
should have a split nylon washer about 1/8 in thick that
prevents that.
Now would be a great time to send your entire steering column to the lister
in WA state for rebuilding. I'm told it makes a world of difference.

I've got a factory wheel in original very good condition
but the varnish is darkened and starting to crack. I want to replace it
with the cheapest possible $29 Pep Boys wheel while I refinish it. How do I
remove the factory wheel and am I going to need any adaptor to put a Pep
Boys Grant's brand wheel on ?
Any non Pep Boys suggestions that are cheap are also welcome.
Thanks
