I don't know anything about her car, but there is a pretty neat setup being
used on a lot of street rods and other older cars which did not come with
power steering. It's electrical and either mounts under the dash connected
to the steering column or under the hood connected to the steering shaft.
There are no hydraulics and there are no changes required to the steering
box/rack and pinion or other parts of the steering system.
