Well, I had a great time at TU31. While I have been to several TU events,
this was the first time I participated out West with my car. I finished my
seven-year restoration eight years ago and have entered in many car shows,
but to enter with the "California Boys" was something I have always wanted
to do.
Like the famous Get Smart statement goes - "missed it by that much." I
received the second place personalized award with a score of 98.5 - first
place winner Ed Foster received 99 points - so, was beaten out of first
place by a half a point! Originally, both cars received 99 points - I was
amazed!! I think he has won first place for the last twenty years or so. Ha.
I really don't mind losing to a car as beautiful as his.
Also, I want to thank everyone who bought some of my "stuff" I brought to
the swap meet. The purpose was to help defray the cost of gas to get there -
3,200 miles round trip at 9.9mpg in our Ford F150 with enclosed trailer.
OUCH!! 24hrs driving each way. My wife says she will fly, and I can drive
next time. Ha.
That was the first time I have ever participated in a rally - what a kick. I
am looking forward to another. For those of you who haven't participated in
one of these, be sure to do it when you get a chance.
